A missionary once told me, ” It’s not about the destination, but about the journey.” At that moment I began a search to find the hidden revelation behind those words. I’m still searching, though I feel through prayer, and experience God has helped me to have more understanding. That as long as we still have breathe, we are on a journey.
Our destination is Heaven, and until then we never stop trying to fulfill the call of God on our lives. We don’t have to figure everything out. Knowing exactly what will happen ten years from now. All we need to do is focus on the right now! Taking the right next step through prayer and God’s direction.
When God told Abraham to go to the place he would receive as an inheritance, Abraham went! He didn’t question or analyze how everything would work. He was obedient and faithful. ( Hebrews 11:8)
The Christian journey is very complex, yet rewarding. We go through valleys, we stand on mountain tops, we are heading straight, when all of a sudden we get off the path, and take a little detour. We fall and may stay down for awhile. But we get up and keep pressing forward. “The godly may trip seven times, but they will get up again. But one disaster is enough to overthrow the wicked.” (Proverbs 24:16)
We make our journey difficult. We worry over what to major in college, what job to take, who to marry, what school the kids will go to, what neighborhood to avoid when buying a house, paying the bills….. the list could go on! Yet, if we spent more energy in the prayer room, building ourselves up on our most holy faith, and practicing the act of surrendering our will over to God. We’d get more accomplished and perhaps move smoother towards our goal. Easier said than done, I know! But something we work on everyday, everyday, everyday!
I end with this thought. There are moments/ seasons where we know we have heard the voice of God. We have complete assurance we are in the will of God. Then, there are times when God is silent and we feel we have no direction. That is the place of preparation. In which you should rejoice! God is preparing you for something your mind cannot fathom!
So don’t try to force or manipulate anything. Just be still, let go! Remain faithful, which is vital! Let God bring it to pass in his timing. One step at a time! One day at a time! God bless you all, in Jesus’ Name!
“The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.” (Psalms 37:23 KJV)
